GOVERNMENT RELATIONS<\/strong> between Tibet and China go back to the late 1800\u2019s. Canada\u2019s current position on Tibet\u2019s political status is as follows:\u00a0 \u201cCanada recognizes the People’s Republic of China as the sole, legitimate government of China and does not recognize the Tibetan “government-in-exile”.
